Life Skills Programme

ISF’s Life Skill Programme focuses on sustainability while teaching lifelong skills

Throughout the pandemic, our team has innovated and adapted to ensure we can continue offering holistic support to our students and community. While we’ve shared a bit about our pivot to the virtual classroom, the lessons taught in textbooks only scratch the surface of ISF’s education programme.

Our team believes that extracurricular activities provide opportunities for students to excel in areas that aren’t directly related to the school curriculum and develop interpersonal and transferable skills necessary for future success. As restrictions are in place, our Life Skills Programme (LSP) team, with support from JUMP! Foundation, has persevered to continue offering one hundred students regular workshops designed to assist in their transition beyond school and increase their employment opportunities.

Centred on experiential and project-based learning, our current extracurricular opportunity focuses on ISF’s sustainability initiatives – reducing plastic usage and managing waste.

As part of the workshop, students divide into three teams: “Less Plastic!”, “Keep Cambodia Clean!” and “Be Green, Training Team”. With an emphasis on collaboration, problem-solving, leadership skills, and public speaking, students take part in experiential activities that address environmental issues within ISF and their community.

Students also have the opportunity to become “Junior Journalists”. Each month, participating students research, write, and illustrate articles focused on sustainable environmental practices that advocate for a greener future. The top submissions are published in “ISF Green Pages”, our school’s student-run magazine.

Although our workshops are currently virtual, our LSP team is excited for schools to safely reopen – planning to produce a documentary showcasing our student’s hard work, progress, and green impact.
