ISF FOOTBALL PROGRAMME EXPANDING
Leo Brogan reports on a recent visit to Kampot
Five Coaches, Samedy, Vatana and I set off for Kampot in southern Cambodia; we are visiting Chumkriel Language School (CLS). The aim of the football session is to introduce the CLS teacher/coach to ISF coaches, agree on a timetable for developing the CLS football program and having some fun with the children.
We did not expect to see the football fields under a foot of water, so improvisation was on the cards. Northbridge FC and Hong Kong FC jerseys were handed out and 20 boys and 20 girls joined the activities with a good 100 very interested spectators. With limited space, there was no opportunity to have a game, so the ISF coaches ran some very entertaining exercises for an hour and a half. ISF is committed to the development of football with the CLS community as is UWC East Campus Singapore.
What I enjoyed was sitting having my rice dinner at a Khmer restaurant on a Kampot roundabout seeing Northbridge and Hong Kong FC’s jerseys filtering through roundabout, the children may not know where the gear comes from (ie our supporters around the world), they are however proud to wear the jersey and appreciate the sponsorship.
