FIFA Football for Hope – ISF Tournament for Deaf and Hearing Impaired Players

Saturday December 19th 2015 ISF held its eighth annual FIFA Football for Hope-ISF tournament deaf and hearing-impaired players. The full-day tournament at ISF’s own Sports Ground was a chance for players to showcase their footballing abilities and put them into practice after having trained hard for so long, all while having fun.

16 teams participated, 11 boys teams and 5 girls teams, representing Phnom Penh, Battambong, Kompot, and Kompong Cham province. Over 180 girls and boys kicked off the competition at 9:00 AM on Saturday morning and played through the clouds and well into the afternoon heat. Spectators were treated to a fantastic show of sportsmanship and tenacious play, with the atmosphere rising throughout the day as competition heated up.

The final results for the tournament were:

  • Boys – Final : Krousar Thmey PP (1) vs Krousar Thmey PP (3) = 0-1
  • Girls – Final : DDP PP Girls vs DDP Kompot = 4-2

The tournament also hosted games for 75 players with intellectual disabilities from 8 organizations: Rabbit School, Pachid, PSE, Domnok Toek, Hands of Hope Community, MSC (Lavalla), Camyouths, Komar. Through the ISF football programme, players of all abilities are able to enjoy opportunities for social engagement and participation in organized sports.

Our big thanks to FIFA Football for Hope for funding the tournament!
