Opening of ISF’s U17 Summer League

The fifth annual ISF U17 Boys League season 2016 was launched on July 10th 2016 at the ISF Sports Ground. The U17 League aims to enable Cambodia youths to enjoy football opportunities through participation in the league competition and to help prevent them from getting involved in negative peer-groups and activities.
With the total number of 17 competing teams from partner organizations, schools and the local community near the Sports Ground, the league this year saw a big increase -compared to last year’s 13 teams. Like last year the league consists of “Round Robin Qualifications with Elimination” , applying almost all FIFA laws (except free substitutions). This makes for much more interesting and challenging matches.
All 17 teams are incredibly dedicated, trudging through the rainy season to make it to the Sports Ground every week. One of our teams, Chibodia from Audong commune, travels 3 hours each week to join the U17 league.
ISF hopes that all teams will enjoy the competition and is pleased that many disadvantaged youths are able to enjoy the game they love, develop their football talent and avoid destructive and unhealthy behaviors that are prevalent in their communities.
