First Aid Refresher Training for Football Staff

First Aid Refresher Training for Football Staff

Medical emergencies in football can occur at any time. From minor injuries to life-threatening situations such as cardiac arrest, understanding basic first aid can help save lives. At ISF, safety of the children and communities we work with is one of our main focuses. That’s the reason why our Football Programme organises first aid training every year to ensure that all its programme staff are equipped with the skills necessary to deal with any accidents and injuries that can happen on the pitch.

On 10th and 11th of November, a 2-day first aid refresher training was held in collaboration with the Cambodian Red Cross, and 13 staff from ISF’s Football Programme attended. The training aimed to refresh the participants on basic life support skills such as, CPR and Choking and other first aid related topics including bleedings, wounds, burns, scalds, fractures and spinal injuries. The training also included practical sessions and life-like simulation in which all football staff took part.

Sok Ranya, a full-time coach at ISF with over 9 years of experience working with children and young adults stresses on the importance of this year’s first aid refresher training, “This training gives me an opportunity to update and refresh my knowledge of first aid methods. Previously, I lacked this knowledge and didn’t know how to provide first aid when there was a problem at training or matches. But now I’ve gained hands-on experience and practical theory lessons that will help me learn more about first aid and especially, save lives during dangerous situations.”
