Kun* joined ISF’s Catch-up Education programme in 2014 at the age of 10 at grade 1. Originally from Kampong Cham province, Cambodia, he relocated to the Kingdom’s capital Phnom Penh at an early age and was raised by his sisters after his parents died when he was just three years old.

Kun is currently being supported by ISF to study at state school and has just started grade 8. He regularly attends classes at ISF after state school and has taken a particular interest in ICT classes, using all his free time to practice what he’s learned.

When he saw all his friends in state school using computers, he was eager to be quick like them and welcomed the opportunity to take classes at ISF. In the last five months he’s learned about hardware and completed two software modules in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Next, he plans to learn Microsoft Powerpoint and Internet Explorer.

“I’m really interested developing computer skills – not just because it supports my learning at school, but also because it’ll help me know more about technology and how to find information online” he says.

Kun’s sisters, who both work in garment factories in the city, are very impressed and proud of their brother’s initiative and ambition and hope that he can use his computer skills to find a good job in the future.
