ISF Football Diary: Be’s Story

Be’s* favourite subjects are English and Maths, but the pitch is where her heart lies. See how this young midfielder uses sport to build her own community and stay away from negative influences.

ISF’s Football Programme started out with 50 players in Phnom Penh in 2007. Today, it engages 3,500 children and youth of all abilities from 12 of Cambodia’s 24 provinces. We are proud to be a pioneer in increasing inclusion for girls in sport. Before we began our annual girls’ tournament, young women had few opportunities to engage in competitive sporting events. ISF’s provision of female footballers has grown from 48 players in 2008 to 1,300 girls like Be in 2019
