Linklaters’ Mentorship

Linklaters’ mentorship teach problem-solving skills integral for success
To help build employability skills, ISF’s Education Programme has partnered with Linklaters, a leading global law firm, to provide mentorship and career counselling to university students enrolled in our Employment Programme. Every month, students virtually meet one-on-one with a Linklaters mentor and have the opportunity to discuss any challenges they are facing.
After graduating from Grade 12, Sievmuy enrolled at the Cambodia Academy of Digital Technology (CADT). In her first semester, she undertook a heavy course load, studying Discrete Mathematics, Algorithms, Programming, Computer Networking, and Robotics. Because she struggled with time management, Sievmuy needed mentorship and support to cope with general challenges. Through our partnership, mentors from Linklaters were able to step in and provide professional advice.
Linklaters mentors not only help problem-solve but allow ISF students to express and collaborate with individuals of different cultures. Sievmuy shares that through her mentoring sessions, she’s gained confidence working in groups, speaking in English, and openly discussing the challenges she’s facing. Through her mentorship, she’s learned unique perspectives and insights that help her approach situations and problems in different ways.
ISF has partnered with Linklaters since 2019. As part of their Collective Responsibility Strategy, Linklaters uses pro bono and community investment activities to impact the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Similarly, ISF has committed to advancing the UN’s SDGs – specifically, no poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, and reduced inequalities.
Chon Chamnan, ISF’s Head of Employment Programme shares that, “[ISF] provides whatever possible – career counselling, goal setting, life skills training, etc – to make sure our students can break the cycle of poverty and attain a decent job within their capability.” With Linklaters partnership and mentorship, ISF can provide the support needed to keep students in school and excel in both their studies and personal lives.
