Slaughter and May commitment to ISF Cambodia

Interview to Lisa Chung, Slaughter and May’s Partner.

  • What motivated your decision to specifically contribute to ISF’s Education Programme?

At Slaughter and May, we strongly believe in championing a better way of doing business and ensuring we make a substantial and positive impact to the world. We use our skills and resources to help bridge societal inequalities and take action on climate change

Our community programme aims to improve access to education and employment, with a priority on social mobility. To help us achieve this we partner with charities and non-profits, like ISF Cambodia, to reduce inequalities and enhance educational opportunities.

  • What values of ISF’s Education Programme align with your company’s philanthropic priorities?

For over a decade, we have invested in initiatives and partnerships, like ISF’s Education Programme, that support literacy, academic attainment and access to university, as well as to support individuals into work, self-employment and training. We are committed to taking action and our efforts have already led to positive changes, increasing the number of individuals from lower socio-economic backgrounds entering the legal sector and our firm.

And in July 2023, we furthered our commitment to reduce socio-economic inequalities by becoming the first major law firm to set social mobility targets.

  • Why do you believe investing in education is an important part of a company’s role in creating sustainable social impact?

As a firm we want to ensure we have a positive social and environmental impact. We understand that educational opportunities can upskill, inspire and equip students for the world of work and beyond. By focusing on community investment, pro bono support and charitable giving to enhance access to education and employment, we aim to contribute to building a more inclusive and equitable society.
