All Abilities Tournament 2019
On Wednesday, 13 February 2019, The ISF Sports Ground hosted over 200 players to compete in the ISF All Abilities Tournament.
This inclusive football tournament, which offers youth with disabilities the opportunity to play sport competitively, is one of the few of its kind in Cambodia. Youth with disabilities are one of the most vulnerable groups in Cambodian society and are often excluded from society at large.
Our Football Programme is working at reducing inequalities in Cambodia and creating more opportunities for children and youth with disabilities to integrate into sport and their local communities. Our programme reaches almost 4,000 children, of which 8.5% includes players who are blind/visually impaired, deaf/hearing impaired, wheelchair users, intellectually disabled and players living with HIV.
We’d like to thank the FIFA Foundation and all of our other supporters for making events like this tournament possible. In order to provide opportunities to a wide range of disadvantaged and marginalised children and youth around the country, we also work in partnership with more than 60 other local non-profits, schools and organisations.
Such support has enabled us to increase access to sports for children and youth with disabilities by delivering football coaching sessions, holding games and activities tailored to their needs. Our latest tournament catered to 215 players from 15 organisations in and around Phnom Penh. Events like these make all the difference when it comes to players feeling included, supported and valued.
