Close of the Barclays – ISF Youth League 2015-2016

The Barclays- ISF Youth League 2015-2016, which launched in late November 2015, came to a successful end on May 29th, 2016 at the ISF Sports Ground, Phnom Penh. This year’s league ran for 17 weeks and was bigger than ever with 74 teams participating, up from 65 teams last season. It provided fun and joy to hundreds of disadvantaged children and to their communities.

The round robin competitions started in December 2015 and ran smoothly for 15 weeks. The 4 top teams from each of the five different age divisions battled it out in the semi-final in the 3rd week of May.

On the hotly contested final day, all the teams, especially the ones competing for the championship, were very excited about the games. Supporters from Phnom Penh, Kampong Speu and Kandal province gathered to cheer on their teams. Following a tense round of final matches, the winners of each division were announced.

This year, teams from Puon Phnom primary school, which had been training hard for months, showed their strength and were able to reach the league finals. An amazing 3 teams from this school ended up winning 3 of the 5 league titles. The U18 Chibodia girls team achieved a historic victory in the U18 girls division and ILC held on to their title in the U14 Boys Champion League.
