ISF’s #GivingTuesday Campaign Aims to Feed 40 School Children for a Year

An estimated 66 million primary school children go to class hungry across the developing world, negatively impacting their cognitive function and ability to learn. In Cambodia, one in three children will not even finish primary school, meaning most face a life without prospects, opportunities or hope. ISF’s first #GivingTuesday campaign aims to change that.

#GivingTuesday campaign feeds children in CambodiaOur Education Programme focuses on the most disadvantaged children from the slums of the capital Phnom Penh who have never gone to school or have had to drop out to work, often as trash collectors. We provide them with a quality education and a real future, while working closely with their communities to lift entire families out of poverty.

To ensure our students can keep up with the intense catch-up curriculum, we provide them with a nutritious breakfast and lunch every day.

For the first time this year, ISF is taking part in #GivingTuesday on 28th November. #GivingTuesday is a global day of charitable giving and an opportunity to bring people together around causes they care about.

‘Donate Your Plate’ Campaign

With the ‘Donate Your Plate’ campaign, ISF is asking its supporters to donate the value of one of their meals, with the goal of raising US$6,800 in just 24 hours. That’s enough to feed the 40 new students in our Stung Meanchey school for a year.

To achieve this target, we need 340 people to donate just US$20, an amount we believe many supporters are willing and able to give.

Tapping into the Growth of #GivingTuesday

#GivingTuesday campaign aims to feed 40 children#GivingTuesday relies on the power of social media to amplify charitable giving and action. We will be promoting the campaign regularly in the week leading up to 28th November online and via email, and encouraging our followers to spread the word by sharing the campaign page with their networks on Instagram and Facebook.

#GivingTuesday has experienced massive growth in recent years, more than tripling from $45.6 million in online donations in 2014 to a $177 million in 2016.

If ISF’s ‘Donate Your Plate’ campaign is successful, we will not only have covered the costs of a substantial portion of our school meal programme but also tapped into an entirely new group of global supporters.
