Community Football League 2018: Results
ISF’s award-winning, inclusive Football Programme is the widest-reaching grassroots football programme in Cambodia, reaching almost 4,000 children and integrating almost 350 players with a wide range of disabilities.
As part of our programme we run a Community League every year which provides opportunities for players from villages around the ISF Sports Ground to compete. During this year’s Community Football League, which ran from 2 September to 28 October 2018, we delivered six weeks of football coaching sessions, games, activities and competitions. We organised 24 matches including 20 round-robin games*, two semi-final games and two final games which saw ten teams and over 200 players compete.
On the final day, there were four teams competing with the total number of players and supporters reaching over 100.

We are committed to integrating several of the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) into our programming where possible including but not limited to Goal 1 (No Poverty), Goal 2 (Zero Hunger), Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 5 (Gender Equality) Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), Goal 10 (Reduced Inequality) and Goal 17 (Partnerships to achieve the Goal). We believe that partnering with organisations, such as Coaches Across Continents, who have played a key role in helping us to develop and deliver our Football Programme curriculum, that are already building strong foundations in reaching the SDGs is essential in scaling and implementing the Goals. In order to provide opportunities to a wide range of disadvantaged youth around the country, we are working in partnership with more than 50 other local non-profits, schools and organisations.
*A round-robin tournament is also known as an all-play-all tournament which refers to a competition in which each contestant meets all other contestants in turn. It contrasts with an elimination tournament and in theory is the fairest way of determining the champion. It may form an event’s league phase, leading into the knockouts, or it may be the competition itself, much as premier football leagues are.
