With the generous support of The SOL Foundation, ISF organized Football Festival on July 3rd and 4th at Reaksmey Samki Primary School in Koh Kong Province. This two-day event aims to introduce the transformative power of football to 312 underprivileged students, while also providing essential football-for-social-impact training to teachers, ensuring a lasting impact on the community.
Reaksmey Samki Primary School, located in one of the most impoverished areas in Koh Kong Province, serves as a beacon of hope for the surrounding communities. With students enrolled in grades 1 to 6, this school provides a vital opportunity for children to receive an education, breaking the cycle of poverty that plagues these villages. Many people resort to selling food from their homes, working in the forest, or even migrating to Thailand, where they are frequently exploited. Through the Football Festival, ISF and The SOL Foundation aim to bring joy, empowerment, and educational opportunities to these deserving children.
Day 1 of the festival kicked off with the “Best Scorer” activity, featuring 56 talented students, both boys and girls, showcasing their skills and vying for the coveted title. In the afternoon, the Boy Champions Tournament took center stage, as 64 young athletes compete in an exciting display of friendly competition and camaraderie.
On Day 2, the football festival welcomed 128 students, both boys and girls, for a series of engaging activities, including eight fun games and football skills challenges. Each student had the opportunity to participate in all activities, fostering inclusivity and promoting a love for the sport. The festival culminated with the highly anticipated Girl Champions Tournament, where 64 talented female students demonstrated their football prowess and inspire future generations of female athletes.
Beyond the exhilaration of the football events, the festival also featured a dedicated training session on footbal-for-social-impact for 20 to 30 youths and teachers. This training aims to equip participants with the necessary tools and knowledge to make a positive difference in their communities. By integrating these sessions into their physical education curriculum, the teachers at Reaksmey Samki Primary School will have the opportunity to inspire and empower their students through valuable life lessons.
